Guardian of Red Rock

Prairie (Western) Rattlesnake – one of two rattlesnakes native to Colorado. They like to be recognized by their rattles (being proudly displayed here). They range from ~30-40″ & can sense your body heat from about 2 feet away. (That means you should get fair warning just before you’re usually in the strike zone.) The record length is 57″.
